Doing what he does best - SLEEPING

I heard that a time or two during Alida’s pregnancy… and guess what?  It’s true!  Joshua has changed our lives in so many ways… in good ways!  But just to let you all know (not exactly sure how many you ALL actually are), things are going great here.  I’m now back to work (since last week) and Alida is home with Joshua (whom I call Pee Bear instead of Pooh Bear because he has managed to pee on us on various occasions!).  We’re adjusting to all the changes that come with becoming parents & thank God Joshua is flexible with our inexperience!

Right now he’s sleeping a good 3 hours between feedings… and even some times up to 5 or 6 hours.  I can’t lie  - he’s a cute kid.  We all know he gets that from his mom!  It does look like he has my hairline tho!  We’ll pray for that!

Anyway, thanks for all your prayers, support, comments, emails - everything.  It’s all such a huge blessing to us.  We’re very much looking forward to the arrival of my mom & dad, sister & nephew (they get here the 20th of August).  We’ll cook up some special things for them to try (like Guinea Pig!)

Joshua comes tomorrow morning!

Posted by Paul Bowers on July 21, 2008

After our appointment today with the doctor, they decided to do C-section on Alida tomorrow morning.  Everything is ok, it’s just more preventative.  His head isn’t in position to be born natural & they don’t want his head against her bone if she has contractions.
So please pray for us!  We love you all.

Alida’s Baby Shower

Posted by Paul Bowers on July 21, 2008

July 16th was the baby shower here for Alida (thrown by her friends & family).  As far as I’m told, they had a great time (I was only there at the end to open the gifts & load them in the car).  We were very blessed with diapers, clothes, a playpen, a highchair, other things as well. We’ve also been blessed with money from people in the states (many of you!!) & we’ve been able to buy a stroller & car seat (picture in earlier post), clothes, diapers, and other things.  For all this we say THANK YOU!  We cant wait for Joshua to get here!

It’s Been a While

Stroller/Car Seat for Joshua

Stroller/Car Seat for Joshua

I can’t believe it’s been nearly a month since we’ve updated the blog!!  Just want to give you all a quick “What’s Been Happenin” with us down south.  Things have been busy, which is now the norm.  :)  Hearts in Action (the Church and the Ministry) has been keeping us busy with events like John Maxwell Leadership training, a Father’s Day Event, the offices moving… twice, setting up the office….twice, our service times changing… everything.  Our buzz word the past few months has been CHANGE & I love the heart of Pastors Tom & Kim Roof.  They said they were willing to stop whatever we are doing & change it if it wasn’t producing & so now, we’ve canceled our Wednesday night services & changed the times of our Sunday services.  Why?  To reach the people around us.  That’s our goal & we’ll do whatever it takes!  Please keep praying for us & for Hearts in Action.. that God would guide our steps in all the NEWness.  We don’t want to do things just to do them.  We want ministries/services that are effective.  God help us!

On the personal side of things, well, we’re busy there as well!  We’ve been trying to prepare Joshua’s room for his soon arrival.  A few weeks ago, we purchased a stroller/car seat (seen above) and we have a cradle, and some clothes & stuff like that… so we’re getting there.  Alida’s sister is organizing a shower for her down here on the 17th of July, so that will help with things.  Also, THANK YOU so very much to all who have given in response to the CARD SHOWER for Joshua.  If you didn’t get one, my parents & my sister & her oldest son are coming down to see the baby August 20th so they did a shower type thing asking if people would want to give towards the baby.  So we’re very excited to have them all coming down here.  Also, Alida’s parents will be here as well.  So it’ll be a full house, but a fun time!  Speaking of the house/apartment, we’re all moved in & settled in.  We love it.

Joshua is doing good.  The last sonogram we had, the doctor said he was a little underweight & the cord was around his neck (but just once).  But other than that, all is well.  He likes to kick his mom in the liver!  We actually have to get another sonogram before our next appointment (July 14th) and I think we’re going to get one in 4D that will show his face.  Crazy huh?

What else?  Alida’s parents just surprised us last night with a surprise visit.  We haven’t seen them since February (they live in another city about 24 hours away).  So we’ll be busy with them the next few days.

So how are you??  Leave us some comments or send us an email to PDBowers@yahoo.com or AlidaBowers@gmail.com.  We’d love to hear from you & again, thank you all so very much for all your love, prayer, and support.  We just had a tremor!  That must mean it’s time to stop writing!
